Stpehen Loshek Commits to Southeastern Community College

Commitment Spotlight: Stephen Loshek

Stephen Loshek reached out to GameTime Baseball in the fall of his senior year. Although a polished arm now, Stephen was a bit of a late bloomer.

Despite always throwing with great location Stephen had not had a velocity jump until the summer before his senior year where he was now throwing in the mid 80s featuring one of the better changeups in the state.

Stephen had not yet received attention from college coaches as no one knew who he was.

Our team at GameTime Baseball saw the potential and immediately knew Stephen was a fit for our program. After sitting down and discussing his goals, we decided that junior college would be the right fit. On top of this we were able to determine what schools had his desired educational program, how far he wanted to be from home, and a school that could provide him with the opportunity to achieve his dreams of playing D1 baseball.

As we began reaching out to schools on his behalf there was immediate interest. Stephen would go on to visit three colleges and ultimately committed to the regular season champion of the ICCAC, Southeastern Community College. Southeastern will be a great place for Stephen to develop and ultimately pursue his dreams of playing D1 baseball.

“Stephen had the ability. He just needed the right exposure, advocacy, and plan.”

Stephen Loshek connected with GameTime Baseball during the fall of his senior year—a critical point in the recruiting timeline. While Stephen is now a polished arm, his path wasn’t typical. A late bloomer, he had always shown strong command and pitchability but didn’t experience a significant velocity jump until the summer before his senior season, when he began throwing in the mid-80s while featuring one of the best changeups in the state.   Despite his ability, Stephen had received little attention from college coaches simply because he lacked exposure.

Once our team evaluated him, it was clear he had the tools and upside to play at the next level. After sitting down with Stephen and his family, we mapped out a clear recruiting plan—identifying junior college as the best path to support both his athletic development and his long-term goal of playing Division I baseball.   We also helped narrow down schools that matched Stephen’s academic interests, distance-from-home preferences, and development opportunities. Once we began advocating for him and reaching out directly to coaches, interest came quickly.

Stephen went on to take three college visits and ultimately committed to Southeastern Community College, the regular season champion of the ICCAC.   Southeastern provides Stephen with the right environment to continue developing on the mound while positioning himself to pursue his goal of playing Division I baseball. His journey is a perfect example of how the right plan, timing, and advocacy can turn overlooked talent into real opportunity.
